Shadow Flight (The Shadow Series)
Chicago’s Ferraro crime family will do anything to protect one of their own in this thrilling entry in the Shadow Riders series from #1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan.
Nicoletta Gomez was a terrified teenager when Taviano Ferraro and his brother saved her life. Ever since, she’s been trying to rise above what was done to her, molding herself into a survivor under the protective eyes of the Ferraro family. All the while, she’s been falling hopelessly in love with the man who knows her darkest secrets.…
With one look, Taviano knew that Nicoletta was his, just as he felt their shadows connect. But no matter how much he wanted to claim her, he knew she needed time to become her own woman. When Nicoletta once again finds herself in the sights of dangerous men, a split-second decision has Taviano breaking all of the Ferraro family’s rules to keep her safe. And as far as he’s concerned, the reward is more than worth the risk.

Years ago Nicoletta Gomez, a terrified and brutally abused teenager was rescued by the Ferraro family just as gang leader, Benito Valdez was set to make her his personal property. Nicoletta already having spent years with her uncles had made the decision to end her life rather than become Benito’s sex slave.
When Stefano and Taviano Ferraro arrived to rescue her, she made the choice to live. It was Taviano’s arms that held her as they escaped. Unbeknownst to her, their shadows merged and Taviano’s battle began to give her time and space to recover. The ensuing years were difficult ones as she began drinking to excess, hurting herself and trying desperately to believe she was worth the love her foster parents and the sense of family the Ferraro’s gave her.
As worked her way back from the trauma she had endured. the one thing she did know was that she loved Taviano. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, she has finally begun to feel that she can become confident woman with the help of Mariko, Emmanuelle and the brothers, learning self defense training, finishing school and finally agreeing to the counseling she needed.
Her picture flashing on the big screen while attending a concert put her back on the radar of Benito and his gang and a desperate race begins to protect her and those she loves.
The love story between Taviano and Nicoletta is one of patience, endurance and the belief they both have that they can do anything together. It’s a long hard road, told beautifully, with the requisite action which I always love. I really enjoyed introductions and updates of the cousins from LA and NYC, it will be interesting to see how the surprise facts we find out will be played out in future books.
Another excellent addition to the Shadow series!!!

I have recently read some on the negative reviews on the other books in this series and just don't understand. I love the Shadow Walkers. There are a few inconsistencies throughout the series- for example when we are introduced to Nicoletta in the first book, SHADOW RIDER, she attempts to kill herself with a knife. In this book, the story of Nicoletta's romance with Taviano, the youngest surviving Ferraro brother, the story is recounted as her trying to kill herself with a gun. It's a small d...
It's a small discrepancy, but noticable to a fan.
I love that, while there is a similar flow to each of the books, the personality of the characters was allowed to evolve. There was an "instalove" aspect that I always enjoy- but because of the personality and background of the characters, I always finish the book believing in a happily ever after.
I have been waiting for Nicoletta and Taviano's story since book one and feel like it was worth the wait. Nicoletta starts off as the wild child, a rebel running away from the abuse of her childhood. Taviano is initially seen as just the youngest Ferraro brother, the peace maker. Yet they mesh in a way that works.
I loved this book. I enjoyed the partnership that evolved between the two main characters. I was happy that the danger threatening Nicoletta was resolved. The crazy, erratic behavior of Eloisa Ferraro toward her children is somewhat explained. So many loose ends tied up! (Note to Christine- please find a way to save Sandlin- he is too great a character to kill off)
Final words- if you have not read this series, I HIGHLY recommend this book (but please read the series in order for maximum enjoyment!) The Ferraro men are NOT always politically correct but they are protective, loyal, loving, intelligent and passionate. Sigh. I want one...

This is the fifth book in the series, and is not a standalone because many details (including the meeting between hero and heroine) are in previous books. This is set about two years after the previous book.

When Nicolette runs into a blast from the past, it causes her life to be in immediate danger.
Taviano has always declared that she was his, and he was just waiting for the right moment. When her life is in danger though, he will do whatever it takes.Fans of the series will enjoy the fate dealt in this book, some definitely well deserved. There are also some special cameo appearances from a few of the previous books lead characters.
An enjoyable read for fans of the author and series, and an intriguing series for paranormal romance fans.

What a ride this story was. The build up from the previous 4 books are a must. A couple exceptional lines, Nicoletta tells Taviano, "I really hope your sister tells Eloise we're married tonight so she can stay awake all night and lose her freakin' mind." Much later Taviano says, "You wanted to punch my mother, woman. Own it." Chapter 18 had me rolling! Much later Taviano says, "You wanted to punch my mother, woman. Own it." Chapter 18 had me rolling! At the Ferraro family meeting Stefano and Taviano; astounding to the family gathered on the attributes of Nicoletta's capabilities with little to no formal Shadow Rider training tanked in a nano second by Eloise and her broken down brain! Classic mic-drop as Nicoletta exits for the penthouse elevator. The passion of Nicoletta coupled with the famous Ferraro temper from Taviano is a sight to behold. Or as the case, read. Pass the popcorn! I'm going to need the bucket size thank you. God help me. With my extremely vivid imagination because I'm still laughing. Don't miss this series!
