Zel: Markovic MMA
Includes the connected books Ivan (Her Russian Protector #1) and Alexei (Her Russian Protector #8) as a FREE BONUS To escape a debt owed to the mob, mixed martial artist Zel Tesla agrees to one final match with one of his league’s most notorious fighters. If he wins, he’ll clear the debts he incurred trying to save his young son’s life and earn his freedom. But one chance encounter with a luscious burlesque performer in Vegas threatens all those carefully laid plans… Ten years ago, Sara Contreras fled Houston with the help of her mobbed-up friends. Since barely escaping with her life, she’s built a multi-million dollar empire, but she’s always looking over her shoulder, wondering if the dark, dangerous secret she left behind in Houston is going to catch up with her. When Sara’s past threatens everything Zel has worked so hard to achieve, she has to make a painful choice. She can sacrifice her love for Zel and let him go—or she can fight for him, facing the secret that nearly buried her back in Houston and the loan shark who owns them both.

I adored catching up with all the characters. I liked Sarah and Zel together. They were two people who had a lot of tragedy and heart break. They found eachother and their love was great.

I loved this book. Mostly because it gave some more insight into the lives of characters we love so much from other books. When I read a book about these people it's like catching up with old friends. I do wonder how and when the longest pregnancy in the history of literature is going to be finished. As far as Zel is concerned, he was a minor character in the larger family. The story was good and written with passion. This was like a really good appetizer, and now I say on to Kostya, which I ...

I liked this book a lot, it was pretty sweet. Though the main characters faced problems, they were able to deal with them and push towards their HEA. Another one I recommend.

I love Roxie Rivera, especially all of the Russian Protector and the related Fighting Connelly series, so I was excited to find this new story. I liked the storyline, as well as the hero and heroine, and was glad to get an update on some of the previous couples. What I didn't like was how short this was; I didn't realize it was just a novella. Although there were two bonus books included, they are previous releases that I already have. What I didn't like was how short this was; I didn't realize it was just a novella. Although there were two bonus books included, they are previous releases that I already have. I would have liked for this to have been fleshed out more, and to have taken place over longer than a weekend. I think this book should have been promoted as more of an epilogue of two past books and introduction to a new series. I didn't see that stated anywhere in the blurb.

I totally loved the book and am thrilled to have a second new Roxie Rivera novel to read in the space of six weeks. The only drag is that I just paid for Alexei, and now it is bundled in with Zel, so, if I had been less impatient, I could have saved two whole dollars. However, who am I kidding? Waiting to read a new Roxie book would be the Amazon equivalent of letting a 3-pint of Braum's ice cream languish in the freezer for a month, and what normal person does that?

Zel is a sweet novella that reprises some familiar themes from Ivan and Sergei (good guys in debt to the mob forced to fight one last time....nice girls with problematic back stories...). It is fun to catch up with Ivan and Erin (how is she still not pregnant?), and I really like the way Besian has mellowed in recent books.
This 3-novel bundle is a great deal. People capable of letting ice cream stand in their freezers for weeks on end will really get a bargain. The rest of us get a really fun novella and get to think optimistically about all the other books that may start appearing soon if Roxie Rivera keeps up this release pace. Perhaps even a Lolita Lopez book or two?
Zel is the perfect gift for the woman you love (or yourself) for International Women's Day!
