The Third Circle
New York Times bestselling author Amanda Quick presents an Arcane Society novel that reveals the passionate—and paranormal—secrets of proper Victorian London.
Attempting to recover a relic stolen from her family years ago, gifted crystal worker Leona Hewitt secretly makes her way into Lord Delbridge’s private museum. But who she finds there is more entrancing than the crystal she seeks.
Thaddeus Ware is a mesmerist with powerful psychic energy—that doesn’t seem to be affecting the woman before him. Instead, Leona seems to exert a rather hypnotic power over the hypnotist himself. After she gives him the slip, absconding with the crystal they recovered, Thaddeus fears for her safety. For he is on assignment for the secretive Arcane Society and knows that the crystal holds the potential for great destruction. It is the key to Lord Delbridge’s membership in a shadowy group known as the Third Circle. The nobleman killed before to acquire the crystal, and Thaddeus has no doubt that he will kill again.

Readers who have read all of the books so far, will notice several things mentioned in the two contemporary books.
Sharp eyed readers might even notice things that crop up in other series set within the Jayneverse, so it’s been rather enjoyable going back through these books and seeing some of those crop up!This is a thoroughly entertaining paranormal romance series, with a smidgen of suspense, and a rather intricate ongoing plot that even rears its head in the author’s most recent books!
A binge-worthy series for paranormal romance fans.

After finding a dead body, and being poisoned by a gas, the two of them escape from danger.
That escape is not for long. There are more villains, dangers and surprises.
Jayne Ann Krentz who is also Amanda Quick has written about magic and the supernatural in many of her books. This is a true magical adventure which takes the reader to the dark side of humanity. But, the good in the world does succeed, just as it should.
Ms Quick’s heroes are brave men who want to protect the women they love. But, they also are trying to protect the world from villains and the evil that they do.
Her heroines are women who are as brave as any man. Their courage stands them in good stead and saves their lives on a regular basis.
This is an exciting story. The plot moves along at a steady pace and there are very few times when the action is slow.
The characters that Ms Quick created in this story are exciting, entertaining and most of all very human.
Leona and Thaddeus have lived through loneliness for a good portion of their lives. They are “different” when difference is not easily accepted. They have made their way in a world which is not always welcoming to people who have “talents”. They have accepted who they are and that their lives will never be like the lives of other people.
I wanted the best for Leona and Thaddeus and the other people in their world. It was easy to see that there was evil afoot. There were people who had no moral compass. And those people were doing whatever it took to get what they wanted.
That is rather like life in the 21st century.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure. This is part of a series, but the story stands well as an individual book. This book is a fun read, and if you are looking for Victorian adventure, this is the perfect book for you.
