My favorite book series ever- right behind Diana gabeldons outlander series. J.R. Wards world of vampires is addictive and leaves you wanting more. I am totally obsessed with Rehvenge. My only complaint is I want more of him. Most of my friends are turned off when "vampire" is mentioned but trust me- this series happens to have vampires as the main characters but these characters are so compelling and the books so rich- you only need to read dark lover and be totally addicted. Most of my friends are turned off when "vampire" is mentioned but trust me- this series happens to have vampires as the main characters but these characters are so compelling and the books so rich- you only need to read dark lover and be totally addicted. I am currently on my re-read because I inhaled the books the first time around, I am enjoying it even more now that I can pause and read them slower.

The entire series is totally absorbing. I found it difficult to put down, and sorry when I was done. I am impatiently waiting for the next installment. My only criticism is of the whole idea of writing these as installments. i am an avid reader and don't like waiting for the endings which never seem to come. While waiting I get involved in another story line which makes them all disjointed. This series is very engaging and the characters are all complex and interesting.

That quote is true of the books in this srries, as this is the fourth time I am rereading it. Characters you care about would want to know were they real people. Stories that mix leaving unanswered questions open so you look forward to the next book, but yet completes the individual story enough so you dont feel cheated, or left hanging. The story flows so its easy to read through but can still get lost in it. I never thought anyone could recreate the vampire myth so I'd want to read the worl...

I never thought anyone could recreate the vampire myth so I'd want to read the world as much as, or as well as Maggie Shayne's Wings in the Night...Angela Knight's Mageverse, and J R Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood, come as close to being as good as Ms Shayne's writing as any wjo are fans of this genre could hope to find. These series are three very different reimagings of the vampires in our world, but a must read for anyone who likes great storytelling.

This series deals with The Black Dagger Brotherhood who are vampires and their battles against their enemies, the Lessening Society, who are humans turned into the undead so they can slay vampires. I like that the vampires are not killers of humans, and are very similar to humans except that they need blood to survive and they have to stay out of the sun. They don't drink human blood to survive, but blood from a vampire of the opposite sex. The characters are complex and the plots are dark, but with some humor mixed in mostly as sarcasm in the thoughts of the characters. There's steamy, explicit sex, but it doesn't overwhelm the plots of the stories. Even though each book deals primarily with a particular brother and his mate, there are other stories occurring with other characters in each of the books as well. They are very entertaining and difficult to put down.

Book 5 - Crazy and sad, but yes so good!
Book 6 - I hate when women are so whiny. I understand this character is a chosen, so things are a little confusing but dang. Otherwise, HOLY CRAP. I actually thought that Phury would be my favorite of them all and he turned out to be the most annoying and extra whiny. I still love them all though haha!
Book 7 - Babies are a bore sometimes, but still such a good book!
Book 8 - Makes me a little bummed that Xhex's baddy self kinda is gone. Yeah it is ...Book 5 - Crazy and sad, but yes so good!

Book 8 - Makes me a little bummed that Xhex's baddy self kinda is gone. Yeah it is still there but this book kind of made her more vulnerable and girly and I love her bad self. John is always the sweetest. He has his ups and downs but such a sweet character. As for what Xhex went through... DANG. but man it all worked out!
