Second Best (Volkov Bratva Book 1)
This is an amazing start to the new Volkov Bratva series. And it was pretty freaking awesome! I loved that it was filled with angst and betrayal. I can honestly say I didn't think it was who I thought it would be at the end.
Vik was a hard brutal man who did what Ivan told him to do and it was Aurora, whom always felt that ahe was second best in her messed up family. Aurora Had a really rough time her first year of marriage. Her wedding night was a nightmare. He had no clue what he had until Ivan told him and he finally did see Aurora.
I loved this story with its twist and turns, betrayal at every corner and watching Vik and Aurora falling for each other.
Loved this one!!

I’m not beautiful or skinny.
I’m hated.
Always second best.I was given to Slavik Ivanov, a deadly, fearsome man in the Volkov Bratva. Married into the world of the Bratva, I have to learn to survive. My husband doesn’t pay me attention, but the longer he ignores me, the longer I’ll live.
Trouble is brewing in the Volkov Bratva. It’s dangerous, and I know it’s only a matter of time before I’m killed because I’m the stranger. The enemy.

Slavik doesn’t love me. I’m nothing more than a duty to him. I’m an obligation, but when he finally notices me, his touches set me on fire.
Does he know I’m loyal to him? Or will he believe the orchestrated lies and finally get rid of the wife he never wanted?
My life is in his hands, and I fear I will never be the same again.

Aurora is the unwanted second child: unloved, unsupported, and treated miserably. Slavik has to marry her a part of a treaty, but he has no intention of ever caring for her. They’re both scarred emotionally and physically: she’s terrified of him because her life is forfeit if anything goes wrong or if he or his boss thinks she’s treasonous.

Sam’s 1 st book in the Volkov series is a complex story with action, intrigue, betrayal, and passion. She always delivers a great story that’s emotionally stunning, the dialogue demonstrates the growth of Aurora and Slavik’s relationship, and as it grows so does their intimacy. I loved the characters’ interactions and the mystery of who’s behind all the drama.
