Hunted
Ready Or Not Moira Dunne is a witch--the quantum physics kind. Time and space are her playthings. Which might explain why her one-night stand from a hundred years ago has turned up to "claim" her--and request her family's assistance with the war he's brewing. But the more she learns about Connlan Kayrs, the more she comes to think this is normal behavior for him. . . There's Nowhere To Hide When Conn and Moira tumbled on the moonlit grass, Conn hadn't meant to mark her as his mate for all time. She was only twenty! But it wasn't easy to wait for her. It was even harder to forget her. So when he finally returns for his wicked-hot witch, he's ready to let the sparks flying. Even if he burns up in flames. . . Each book in this series just gets better and better in my opinion. Just when I think 'so and so' is my favorite character or couple, I fall in love with the next pair too. And at this moment, I'm not even eager for a specific character to have his/her turn next because I like the possibility of each one who is left unmated. Heck, I'm even vested in Kalin.

And at this moment, I'm not even eager for a specific character to have his/her turn next because I like the possibility of each one who is left unmated. Heck, I'm even vested in Kalin.
This was the story of Connlin Kayrs and Moira Dunne. A hundred years before, Conn accidentally marked Moira as his mate in an unguarded moment of passion. To appease the coven elders and to give Moira a chance to train and get used to the situation, he agrees to a promise where he will give her one hundred years before he comes to claim her. Conn is a warrior and goes back to what he does best all the while counting down the days until he can claim his beautiful witch mate. Moira uses the time to train both her skills as a witch and as a coven enforcer. She assumes that Conn made the decision lightly to leave her be and that he was relieved to be rid of her. This belief pains her and even his reappearance doesn't ease her into believing that he truly wants her.
Conn's return comes at a bad time for Moira. She has big secrets from him and a job to do, but she seriously under estimated him. While he might not know her, she sure is discovering that she didn't know him either. The war between the Realm Vampires and their allies and the Kurjan vamps and their allies is spilling over into other races. Groups within races are forced to take sides and some are determined to re-align their loyalties. Betrayal from within threatens to destroy more than the actual war. The disease affecting the mates and the weres is still wrecking havoc with no hint of a cure. Coven Council members are disappearing at an alarming rate and the witches greatest weakness has been discovered.
Against this backdrop, Conn sets out to show Moira that she is his and they belong together. He partners with her on her missions and then brings her to his home knowing that if the witches align with the demons she may be ordered to spy on his people and even kill him. This more than anything else proves to Moira that Conn is serious about them, but when his life is in grave danger she realizes how she really feels about him and can only hope that he survives long enough for them to have something together.
The story follows several story threads jumping between several narrators though Conn and Moira are the most frequent. The plot is action and passion. Conn, like the rest of the Kayrs' men is alpha to the core, but he's not a jerk. He has to adjust to the mature and capable female his mate has become, but he's not unreasonable. Moira is a strong witch with kick-butt fighting ability. She's determined to do her part and do her duty. She's constantly placing duty first because she prefers control and is scared to death of a committed relationship with Conn. I only had one niggle about Moira. I really hated all the lies. I get that she had to keep secrets about her race, but I wish she would have just said so instead of lying. It was one of the books highlights for me when Conn called her on it. She tried to say it goes both ways and he slammed her when he made it clear that he had never lied to her. Go Conn! They were great together once things started to gel. Conn brought some real heat and intensity when they came together and totally overwhelmed Moira taking all the fight right out of her.
So, all in all this was a superb installment in the series and I can't wait to see what happens next.

I read this book immediately after I read the first two. The second book was better than the first, and this one is slightly better than the second. So far I am really enjoying the series. Others have given a detailed synopsis of this book, so I am just going to give my opinion of it.

For starters, it is well written. Writing mechanics are good and the world building and story line remain consistent with the earlier books. There are some typos, not enough to affect the reader's enjoyment, but I expected better from a traditionally published book.
Characterization for both the protagonists and the antagonists is good. They are fleshed out, with enough back story, inner dialogue and dialogue to get a sense of who they are and what their motivations are. Because of the overarching storyline, the central and some supporting characters appear in every book. Each book has the emphasis on a different hero and heroine, however, and ones in this book are very likeable. Con, the hero, is alpha but less domineering with his mate than his brothers are with theirs. He was depicted as a man who loved his mate enough to sacrifice his own desires by releasing her to fulfill her potential and destiny. As well, he was depicted as a man who studied her craft, not only for his own political agenda, but to become an understanding and supportive part of her life. He was confident enough in himself that he took pride in his mates' abilities, even when she bested him. Moira, the heroine, was very young and inexperienced when mated and is conflicted as a result. She is very strong, confident and decisive when it comes to her craft and her duties as a witch. However, when it comes to personal relationships, especially with her mate, she is extremely insecure, indecisive and she constantly second-guesses herself. The author portrayed them perfectly for the situation in which she placed them, and it made for a strong and satisfying romantic component of the the book.
The pace was fairly brisk and even. The author created enough suspense and tension, that the suspense component balanced the romance. The story line was strong and very engaging. I couldn't put the book down and stayed up until the wee hours to finish it.
My only complaint is the amount of sex. I think this book had less of a ratio of sex to story than the others, but it was still too much for my tastes. The book was definitely not erotica and the sex scenes were well done. Most readers of paranormal romances would likely be very happy with this aspect of the book. My personal preference is for less sex and more story in my romance books. No matter how well written sex scenes are, I find that if there are too many or they are too long, they slow down the story and, frankly, they get boring fast.
I recommend this book and the series. I've read the next two books since I finished this one, and the quality remains consistent and good. I've read several paranormal romance series, and well there are some I liked more than this one, it ranks highly on my scale.

He’s been training the Realm’s soldiers for the war they all knew was coming. The war with the Kurjans, the pasty-white bloodsucking monsters who were afraid of the sun since it fried them. These two are battling each other as well as their own destinies. This story is a definite page turner and I read it in a day because I couldn’t put it down. Full of battles, danger around every corner, twists and turns, and the sizzling chemistry between a gifted witch and the toughest, talented vampire soldier, there’s a lot of story here.
The vampire brothers are fascinating and compelling and their mates are strong, determined females. As this series moves forward we learn more and more about little Janie, introduced in book 1, her visions, the danger surrounding her inner dreams, and what her future might hold.

I forgot how much angst and turmoil these endings and epilogues had. I love Conn. He is always the one to put himself on the line, but is also quick to be the one to believe in love being the center of everything. He will do anything to make Moira believe the same, even if it means allowing her to fight.
