So much deceit.

So exhausting...I hate it when I know that one character is out to completely screw over another character and yet that character is too fucking dumb to catch on. Frustrating. Le sigh.

Regardless, I find myself swept up in these Days of Our Lives. I really love Hudson. And Alayna - while so gullibly dumb as mentioned above - is endearing to me in her own way too. I just wish she'd stop with the silly secrets, etc.
I will definitely read book three...after I've rested up from this one. My head it tired from swinging back and forth watching this tennis match of a book.

Found In You was an addictive, fast-paced, steamy ride that kept me turning the pages as fast as I could!! Readers who loved the first book will most certainly fall in love with this one too!
Be sure to read this series in order though as it is one continuous story following the same couple. The book do not end with cliffhangers soyou can start reading at anytime without fear of being left hanging.
I'm not going to talk much about the plot here because it's nearly impossible to do so without giving spoilers. Suffice it to say that Hudson was fuckhot as ever and the things that man says and does are guaranteed to keep your heart racing!!
"If you want possessive alpha male, I can certainly comply."
*fans self* Yes, please!
He's exactly the kind of hero I love - the perfect blend of confident, alluring and dominant, while also quite damaged and messed up on the inside. It's quite a delicious combination and seeing that kind of hero fall hard for his woman just gets me everytime.
But it wasn't all hearts and rainbows. Both Hudson and Alayna had pasts they weren't proud of and despite how open they were with each other, there were still dark secrets in Hudson's past that he was afraid to reveal for fear that it would tear them apart for good.
"Has it ever crossed your mind that I might have done things you could never forgive?"
And to be truthful, when some of those secrets were revealed, even I was shocked! They were dark!! Like really dark... and I totally understood his reservations about telling her. That said, I absolutely loved the way Alayna handled it. I loved that she didn't excuse it but was able to see the reasons behind his actions and was also able to see his desire to change and the efforts he'd put into doing so.
Everything about everyone raised question after question. While this wasn't a mindfuck by any means, it was a constant guessing game at what everyone's true motivations were. Given their pasts, could you believe everything you saw on the outside? How much was everyone hiding?
To me, this book was very much about trust. Earning trust, keeping trust, and learning to put trust in each other. The secrets that came out put everything to the test and it was harder in their case than it would normally be because given both of their troubled histories, they both were prone to deep-seeded insecurities, raging jealousies and irrational fears and had to work hard to both overcome their own personal demons and also put in the efforts towards building a healthy relationship together. Luckily though, they both were very aware of their issues and knew their weak points and because of this awareness and acceptance, they were able to help each other through some of the hardest situations.
"I need you to know that I'm trying and I'm not going to stop trying until I get there. Do you hear me? Don't give up on me."
It was interesting though because since the whole story is told from Alayna's POV, we're always connected to her and always know what's going on in her head - we know when she has fears and insecurities, we know when she's lying and telling the truth, we know everything. But with Hudson, we only saw him from the outside - specifically, through Alayna's eyes - and there was so much in his past that made trusting him a bit of a gamble. I felt like I was putting my heart out on the line along with Alayna.
But I just loved them both so much. Y'know, they were messed as individuals but every single thing that happened still made sense. And by that I mean that I always understood the reasons behind what was going on even when it hurt and made me frustrated (except with one character who I won't name but seriously I have NO idea what is going on with them!! And I really, really freaking want to know!!).
I really just wanted to hug them both. They were so "dysfunctional functional" if that makes any sense. They both wanted so badly to make things work and both honestly put in a ton of effort to work through things together even. You really got the feeling that it was them against the world.
"Our pasts will always threaten to come between us. But nothing can come between us unless we let it."
They're just one of those couples who I just believe in. I feel very strongly for them and respect them enough to trust that even though they'll mess up, I think they'll always find their way back to each other. It's a really wonderful feeling to have as a reader and I'm really just loving the journey of watching them sort their issues out and build their relationship.
"I’d never be a normal girl and Hudson would never be a normal guy, but perhaps we’d found the closest thing to normal that we’d ever be capable of achieving. And it was pretty damn good.”
Overall the pacing was excellent - the story was constantly moving forward and developing, there were no slow points and nothing that I felt I needed more or less of. The writing was strong - I really felt quite connected to Alayna and Hudson and stayed fully immersed in their story. And the plot was intriguing - it had twists I didn't see coming and some truly epic scenes that had me laughing and squeeing out loud.
The sex was just off-the-charts HOT!!! The chemistry, the intensity, the variety... everything about it just had me fanning myself from start to finish! I did also really like that despite the story being quite erotic, I felt that the balance between sex and character development was very well handled.
There is a huge HOLY SHIT moment in the last section of the book that had me gasping!! What an epic clusterfuck! It was a total one-two punch of reveals, one of which I'd suspected and the other that I just never saw coming!
The ending was not a cliffhanger. Relationship-wise, Hudson and Alayna are in a good place at the end but we do learn something which has my mind racing already and definitely looking very forward to the final book in this trilogy! But, I'd say it's very safe to jump right in though if you want.
I really loved the overall message too -- that even people with broken pasts, who'd messed up and done thing they'd forever regret could still work their way back to a good place and still be able to be a part of a healthy relationship. I found it extremely heartwarming.
If you're a fan of the Crossfire series, then I'd call these books a must-read because they have very much of a similar feeling to them despite the plots being different so definitely check them out if dominant, fuckhot Alpha male billionaires make your heart race. Hudson Pierce now has a place on my favorites shelf along with Christian Grey, Gideon Cross and James Cavendish.
Highly recommended!

Book 1 continues where book 2 ended. I was engrossed by this whole story.
Hudson and Laynie are everything that is good for each other, but they are still harboring so many secrets and keeping things from one another. The past is never far away.
Let me just say that Hudson is so sexy and smooth. In every sense of the word. He has a presence that can’t be denied. He is possessive, dominate, wealthy and trying to learn how to love and be loved. He still feels incapable of love. But Laynie is making him feel things he hasn’t felt before.
Laynie and Hudson are not your average couple. They both have a past which is far from perfect. They are far from conventional and some would see them as dysfunctional. But in Hudson and Laynie’s relationship, they make it work. They found each other and made it work for them. They accepted each other’s faults and the skeletons.
In book 2 we see Hudson and Laynie moving forward with a “normal” relationship. But there are so many underlying secrets that they are hiding that may just hurt them both. I felt that they try so hard to take their relationship to the next step. A real relationship. With emotions and feelings and everything in between.
Hudson wants Laynie and will do anything to make her his. He is always reassured her that she is the only one. That he has changed and she has made him whole again. He always made her feel safe, secure, wanted and adored. Inside and outside of the bedroom. Hudson knows that Laynie is what he needs in his life. He feels security with her.
They go through so much together. They have so many ups and downs that the drama throughout their relationship was so intense and full of anxiety.
Laynie is still learning to grow as a person, and to not make the mistakes of her past. She struggles with herself on what is right and wrong, who she should trust and not trust. She impressed me on how she had grown stronger and was moving in the right direction, even though there was bound to be trouble in her future.
Although all is not what it seems. Some of the secondary characters have ulterior motives. I felt this with Celia from the get go and really hated her. I was so frustrated for Laynie that her intuition did not pick it up. I didn’t want to believe it though. I wanted to believe Laynie was in a good place. I really wanted to shake Laynie up and tell her to open her eyes. She was really too trusting of the ones she should not be. In saying that, it made the plot thicken and intertwine impressively.
Hudson was so strong and faithful and always there for Laynie. She was his world. How did he make that switch so easily after admitting he was some sort of sociopath?
He knew how to handle Laynie’s crazy and I loved that about him. She was never crazy to him. He loved how jealous she got about other women, he loved her possessive streak she held for him. He loved the fact that she could love him even though his past is so tainted.
I felt that they needed to be more honest with each other. Moving past the secrets is not helped when they are not honest with each other. They kept so much from one another that it was frustrating to see this side of them. It was a huge barrier between them. One lie lead to another and it just spiraled for them. And for Laynie – it just ate at her guilty conscious.
Even though Laynie, grew as a woman and person throughout this book, she was still always jumping to the worst conclusion. Her stalker ways were always there with her just not so bad. But it had her doubting things on a number of occasions. She was still insecure about her relationship with Hudson, even though he made her feel like she was the only one.
Hudson, on the other hand always gave Laynie the benefit of the doubt. Almost like he was struggling with something within himself. He had a hard time telling Laynie he loved her, but his action spoke volumes. The way he treated her, the way he spoke to her and devoured her in the bedroom. You could tell he loved her.
In addition to all that was going on - OMG their chemistry is truly off the charts. It is hot, sexy, steamy and Hudson is dominating in every way possible. He is so drawn to Laynie that he makes her weak at the knees. Made me weak at the knees. It really is explosive, primal and sizzling.
They are perfect for each other. They really make the pages sizzle with their hot and heavy love making on every surface they can find. Hudson could never get enough of Laynie. She was making him feel things he hadn’t felt before.
I loved this story. It really was an emotional rollercoaster ride full of suspense, angst, deception and secrets.
What is in store for these two in Book 3? I have so many questions….
Will they survive a future together? What obstacles are in their way? Is it all too good to be true? Is Hudson who he says he is?
Will their lies and secrets come between them? Will they be able to work through them? What will it do to their relationship? Will they be able to make it work?
They really are meant for each other. Broken, torn and troubled they are each other’s soul.
Laurelin Paige’s writing style is beautifully creative. I really was hypnotized by this story. It surely did not disappoint. Hudson Pierce is one deliciously sexy male full of unexpected surprises. For a man who deems himself incapable of loving anyone or anything, he certainly knows how to make a woman feel loved with his words and actions.

First and foremost, I was disappointed with Alayna's character in this book and found her to be extremely irritating. She was just so damn needy and emotional and constantly over analyzing every situation with Hudson. She constantly questioned Hudson's motives and complained about being shut out and not knowing his secrets, but yet SHE kept secrets from him! How freakin hypocritical of her!!
She was supposed to be this smart girl, but yet, she was so damn naive and gullible - I mean if several people have told you to stay away from Celia, why the hell do you keep calling her and trusting her? (serves you right to have been betrayed by Celia!)Hudson on the other hand was as astonishing as always. He took my breath away and I loved his character development -- he appeared so hard and guarded in the first book, but he had completely moved away from that and began opening up to Alayna. Although he had not said I LOVE YOU to Alayna, you could clearly feel that he was in fact in love with her by his actions -- asking her to move in, buying the club for her, telling her that he wanted her to run the club, and not to mention how he professed his feelings for her:
"Just don't give up on us. Please, don't give up. I'm a shell without you, Alayna. I can barely breathe when you aren't near me, when I'm not touching you..." (awwww....I LOVE YOU Hudson!!!!)I was so ecstatic when Hudson surprised Alayna at the club after their major fight and they eventually talked it out and you'd think they're all good right? NOPE!!!!
As the book ended, Alayna read a text from Stacy stating that she had proof of Hudson and Celia together -- OMG can these two catch a break?!? Sheez..let them be together already!! Anyhow, that whole scene completely made me feel uneasy and sad that the storm is not over for these two.Overall, the book was great! Lots of emotional ups and downs, uncertainty, family shockers, but LOTS of HOT Hudson which makes it worth while. I can't wait to see how the story ends....
