Bad Things
Danika hasn’t had an easy life. Being insanely attracted to bad boys has never helped make it easier. One look at Tristan, and every brain cell she possessed went up in smoke. This man was trouble with a capital T. It was a given. She knew better. Bad boys were bad. Especially for her. Considering her history, it was crazy to think otherwise. So why did crazy have to feel so damn fine? For as long as she could remember, Danika had been focused on the future with single-minded purpose. Tristan came along and taught her everything there was to know about letting go, and living in the present. She fell, hard and deep. Of course, that only made her impact with the ground that much more devastating. Bad Things is about Tristan and Danika, and their train wreck of a love story. This series can be read as a standalone, or with the Up in the Air series.

Super sexy read with explosive chemistry, gripping drama and lots of raw, in-your-face emotion! One hot, addictive read!
"I knew trouble when I saw it, it being a very old friend of mine. Trouble for me was this nasty little self-destructive streak that I'd never quite been able to shake."
Wow! This is actually my first R.K. Lilley book, I haven't yet had the chance to read the much-talked-about Up In The Air series and now I really can't wait because this book didn't disappoint!!! This...

This is the story of Tristan and Danika... and once these two meet, their chemistry is immediate and off the charts!!! But Danika knows that Tristan is TROUBLE and is determined to stay away. He was just the type of bad boy she had fallen for before, which made the situation dangerous.
"Bad things were going to happen if we spent too much time around each other."
Like a moth to a flame, however, Danika can't seem to keep her resolve with Tristan, who turns out to not only be gorgeous, but also flirty, charming and a whole lot of fun! Dark, tattooed and dangerous, Tristan is unavoidably sexy and irresistible. He's a bar promoter and lead singer in a rock band. He's extremely popular and well-known with the ladies and straight up tells Danika he doesn't do relationships."So what do you do?"
"Hookups. Brief, casual hookups. How about you?"
"I do relationships. No exceptions. Never had a casual hookup in my life."
"Well I guess that makes things less complicated. We'll be friends, then."
They make a pact to keep things platonic, because they get along so well. I found their relationship quite interesting because in a way, they are completely different people, but they seem to "fit" perfectly, being exactly what the other needs. Danika is sassy, smart and sarcastic and Tristan is honest, possessive and flirtatious. Their banter was brilliant!"Always remember that we like each other too much to sleep together, and that sleeping together will ruin EVERYTHING."
The more time they spend together, the more their pent-up desire just beckons to be released. They're having a great time, living in the moment, but their chemistry cannot be contained! I mean, they are so insanely attracted to each other and the desire just oozes off the page big time!!!"Danika, sweetheart?" he rasped.
"Yes, Tristan?"
"I'm done being sweet, if you don't mind.
I need to f*** you really hard now, if that's okay."
Both Tristan and Danika have had difficult backgrounds. Danika struggles with the outcome of an abusive past which has caused her to have some intimacy issues. She also demands control in every situation because so many times in the past, control was taken away from her. Tristan is so completely there for her, helping her to trust him, to submit to him, to give up some of that unhealthy need to control everything. It's so evident how much he cares for her, how much he likes her... how much he's falling for her. And despite Danika trying so hard to keep her feelings locked up, she finds that she's fallen for him too."I had the oh so stupid girl thought that if I could just have Tristan, I'd never need anything else, not ever. I had the crucial and inescapable realization that I wanted him. Not just in bed. Not just as a friend, but all of him. Every piece of the puzzle. I'd never wanted anything so badly in my life."
Things get so complicated in this book and I felt so much for both of them! Not only are they shaped by their past, but things happen around them and between them that had my heart breaking. These are complicated, flawed characters that make mistakes, especially Tristan. For as good as he is, I wanted to yell at him sometimes. And of course, every time they fight, the super hot sex follows!!!Gulp. Double Gulp. *fans self*
The last 20% or so of the book made my heart seriously race and hurt... their relationship is so tumultuous and it is FAR FROM OVER. The book doesn't end in a cliffhanger, but there is so much more to their story and let me tell you, from the sneak peek we got from the next book, the continuation of Tristan and Danika's story is going to be brimming with complication and drama. Overall, I just really loved the characters, loved the book, I couldn't put it down and I read it really quickly!!!
The story of Bad Things takes place prior to the Up In The Air series and can be read as a standalone book. Author R.K. Lilley calls it a "connected" book, and one can pick this book up before or after reading In Flight (#1, Up In The Air). There will be a second book, called Rock Bottom, and personally, I can't wait to read it!

Loved the book in the first half, second half became a train wreck. The book was good, the author writes amazingly well. It did not end in a cliffhanger, thank goodness! Danika and Tristan are so hot together, and their relationship is so intense. I laughed, swooned, cried and swore. My problem with the second half seems to be the same problem others have who gave lower reviews. Like another reviewer, it's not the writing, but the character.. Loved the book in the first half, second half became a train wreck. The book was good, the author writes amazingly well. It did not end in a cliffhanger, thank goodness! My problem with the second half seems to be the same problem others have who gave lower reviews. Like another reviewer, it's not the writing, but the character.. Some of the things that Tristan did, made me cringe. One thing I just could not get over. ***SPOILER ALERT*** I didn't like that Danika sat around waiting for Tristan while he was manwhoring around. And then he goes hulk smash jealous at anyone who talks to her, looks at her, etc, when he is a slut himself? Major spoiler here.... I especially did not like the fact that they were intimate after he had slept with someone just hours before, and she easily forgives? REALLY? That's just gross to me, sorry not sorry. If I could insert an emoticon face, it would be a gag face. I get that he's a bad boy, but for someone who supposedly missed her so much while they were apart, he sure slept around A LOT. And for him to say the things he did to Danika about love, WOW. I think it absolutely ruined their moment for me and just ruined Tristan for me. I lost respect for him and I just didn't swoon over him after that. I was rooting for them in the beginning, but not towards the end. I absolutely loved Frankie and Jared!!! The characters were well developed and I could just feel their emotions, and that's when you know a book is well written. I can't wait to read the next book because I want to know what happens to them. From what we know of Them from the up in the air series; they don't speak to each other, he's five years sober, and Danika has a limp.

My love for Danika and Tristan is borderline crazed obsessed book loving freak. But that pretty much sums me up. I am a crazed obsessed book loving freak! These two totally surprised me with their story. I was captivated from the moment I met Danika, and then taken for a cruise on the train of all things Tristan, that made me wanna swallow him whole. Are you ready to have your world jostled a bit and be introduced properly to two of my ALL TIME FAVE characters?
We've briefly met Danika and Tristan in Author RK Lilley's series Up In The Air, which included Mr. Beautiful and Bianca. How can you not remember those two lovely souls? Ok, so we were introduced to Danika and Tristan while they were on the not so happy side of relationships. Now rewind a few years back (I am assuming, not so sure on the timeline) and we are thrown into a whole new ballgame of new found relationships between two people who are still finding out who they truly are.
Move over Mr. Beautiful, Tristan Vega has now entered my life FOR GOOD! So, Tristan is a man-dog. Yeh, that would be the best way to describe his ways. But he also carries himself in a way that made my mouth water, is through the roof sexy, and charming. He may also be a sweet, sweet man, that had me at hello. Seriously, he did. I was like, "OMG OMG OMG, why haven't we met sooner? Where has RK been hiding you? I mean come on I thought you were sexy in Grounded but now I am lusting after you." Yeh so he brought his A-Game to this book. But what he is, doesn't disappoint you. You just know he can be a pig and quite possibly delicious at the same exact time. And Tristan is going to show you a side he doesn't show to anyone....So ladies/gents hold on tight because Tristan is gonna take you for a ride you'll never wanna forget.
Can I get a freaking AMEN?!?! Holay Molay! Danika swooped in and made me a mess of giddy and sappy. That woman shows us what feisty and super wonderful actually mean. Danika is a strong willed, honest, and downright adorable chica! Girl hasn't had the best of times with past boyfriends, in fact they were pretty much douches. So Danika is sort of reeling from her past crap, and trying to fight to breathe when it comes to men. Then she is hit with the ever charming and delicious man, who is Tristan. He world is about to get rocked, HARD!
The relationship that Danika and Tristan carry is one that will leave you breathless and longing for more. They are completely made for each other, even if it may not seem like it. Tristan is a man that likes to think with his aheemm.....you know what I am talking about. But once you bring Danika into the mix, she helps bring out the brighter, intriguing, and genuine side of Tristan. He also helps Danika open up and helps her learn to let loose and enjoy life. Plus, they have wicked fun and sexy chemistry. And, I can't leave this out, their sex scenes are SCORCHING HOT, like to the point where you may need to fan yourself, or take a cold shower like Tristan does. God these two so totally played with my head the whole time I was reading this book. I swear to you I was on pins and needles the whole damn time.
Who loves when the Author incorporates friends and family members into the story? I know I do, but with this book the friends and family are such an integral part of Danika's and Tristan's story-that I pretty much knew I was lost to these few superb characters-they help define the term family and Tristan and bit of Danika too. I am gonna say this one time, I WANNA KISS AND LICK Jared. God, he made my heart pitter patter with excitement and totally melted me too. Jared is Tristan's kid brother, but damn him....he is all sorts of awesome. Jared, man you own my heart and soul. Seriously, if you don't care for this review....I am asking you to read this book for Jared. You will love him, and he may own you by the time the story is through. He has that effect on you. Then you have the freaking marvelous Frankie who, best get her own book after all is said and done with Danika and Tristan, is damn marvelous. I disliked her a tad bit in the Up in The Air series, but I totally am bowing to her awesomeness now. Frankie says it like it is and doesn't give squat diddly! There are a few other friends that come into play, but Frankie and Jared are too important not to mention.
This book did a number on my heart, body, and soul. It was all encompassing, and just freaking MARVELOUS!!! To me Danika and Tristan's story was not a happy, all consuming, butterflies and rainbows joy. No, their book was all consuming, gut-wrenching, with loads of uncertainty, and a lot of beautiful emotions that had me hanging on for dear life until the very end. Honestly, I fell in love with Author RK Lilley after I read In Flight, Mile High, and Grounded. But I am pretty sure I have died and gone to Heaven and fallen deeper in love with her since finishing Bad Things a few nights ago. I am so totally nursing a book hangover, I just don't know if anything else can own up to the fantastic that is Bad Things. This is Author RK Lilley's BEST BOOK to date. Her way of pulling us in from the start, and keeping us hanging onto every word, just goes to show how much of a literary genius she truly is. Now I am asking, no demanding, pleading with you, to get this book like RIGHT.THIS.SECOND! You won't be disappointed, and make sure to add Rock Bottom, which is book two, to your TBR's!!! P.S. Make sure to grad some tissues, you will need them.
