Thresh: Alpha One Security: Book 2
Thresh. Just the name suggests power, dominance, danger...and the man himself? Oh man. I’ve never met anyone like him. Larger than life, exuding raw power. He’s a mountain of rugged, masculine sex appeal. But I have walls that no man, no matter how big he is, has ever been able to break through. Thresh doesn’t know how to take “no” for an answer, though. He’s determined to get past all my defenses and show me what I’ve been missing. The only problem is Thresh has enemies. Powerful, deadly, merciless enemies who have no problem using me to get to him. And Thresh is injured, one arm left useless. Can Thresh singlehandedly take on armed and dangerous men out to kill us AND my freight train of emotional baggage?

This one is really hot steamy and sexy. It wasn't as deep as some but so sexy. Thresh and Lola were well matched and I enjoyed it very much.

Jasinda is quickly becoming a favourite. She knows how to write and her characters show that off even better than the plot does.
This right here is an alpha male story done right, with equal amounts of thriller, action, hot steamy languorous sex and endearing moments all in one.

Lola and Thresh are a power couple and fully developed characters and I loved that Lola read as a diverse character (physically especially) and not as a stereotype. Despite a not so nice background, relationship wise, she wasn’t whiny nor damaged goods. She showed a strong backbone and proved as strong a character as Thresh: thank goodness for a balanced dynamics in a book couple.
The action scenes were every ounce as believable and well written as the make-your-knees-weak sexplosions, which, despite being a tad too on the dragging side, were every bit delicious and drool worthy.
Also, don’t read the excerpt of the next book in the series included at the end - you’ll get hooked 😊

I was so happy to see that this book was longer than Harris'!
Thresh's story picks up where Harris' left off, in an ER waiting room in Miami, doing what we expected him to do,get help from Dr Reed. The few things we do know about these mysterious men is that ladies seem to fall at their feet, and Dr Lola Reed is not immune to it at all; just the opposite... there is a draw to him she just can't explain. However, her past creeps in and has her scared of whatever that pull is.

In creeps Cain, moving this plot along, taking us on a wonderful ride of self exploration for both of them!
The only thing I had a problem with is, while the story starts where the other left off (Thresh's arm messed up) he speaks about Harris & Layla being married!? How did that to happen?
And to those of you who complained about the sex in A1S book 1, there is sex in this as well, be forewarned. But this sex is unbelievable!!!

No matter how long this story actually is, I figure there's no more than a dozen pages of actual story here. Every word ever written, every thesaurus ever printed, every dictionary ever bought, all those words are used in some way to describe the sex the two main characters are engaged in! I'm not a fan of too much explicit sex in romance novels. Some is always expected, and that's fine when it's done well. This, this one is nothing more than extremely drawn out, over done, erotic junk that could have easily been left completely out. Replace it with a better plan, something that doesn't begin to sound like it's there just to make the story longer by filling in with....whatever this was. From the very beginning, the hero, Thresh, sounds like a comic book super hero. "7' tall, platinum blond hair shaved at the sides with a patch of mohawk down the center? Eyes so pale blue that they are almost silver?" Seriously? The man works a top security job, with others with the same training, super secret stuff, and he's supposed to blend in at times? He'd be so noticeable that NASA could track him from space. Our heroine sounds like a beautiful woman, Samoan background, with a body that sounds like another character out of a really bad comic book. She has hang ups too, of course, and is a doctor. That's all I'll say about them. I kept skimming and skipping as much as I could to try and find what little bits of the story that I know was there. I actually got a few lines out of a few paragraphs that said there was a story there! Once the sex scenes began the slow, deep, long fall into pages and pages of...'insert your own word here'...I almost forgot what the story was about, I think. I kept going tho'. I knew that somewhere the bad guys were going to make a real attempt, again, and our 'hero', Thresh, would step up to the plate if he had one centimeter of muscle strength left in him between bouts of insane sexual activity. I lost. There are 2 or 3 redeeming qualities to the book. Character descriptions are good, even tho' the two main ones are a stretch, the scenery descriptions are well done. Having spent almost all of my long, adult life in the gulf south, I am very familiar with the waterways, bayous, and everglades areas. Beautiful descriptions there for sure. I just got so worn down trying to wade through the unnecessary and overly explicit sexual content that I was totally exhausted and had to just give up. Really, if you take into account the two main characters, along with their back stories (which had a good basis for a good story itself) their romance could have been much better served with less erotica and more tender love scenes. It would have given them much more class and credibility and made their backgrounds much more realistic. However this story turned out, I doubt if I'll ever go back and finish it.

I'm a fan of Jasinda Wilder with few exceptions, and this book didn't fail to keep me entertained. I can't wait for the next installment in the series.
I liked the people, I liked the story, and I didn't see what was coming most of the time, so all of that is great. The book is action packed in all ways.

Lola is a complex character with a difficult and interesting past. She was someone who was fun to get to know. Thresh is a fascinating blend of bits and pieces that make up one great guy. They are wonderful together. Great chemistry and a beautiful new love for each other.
It's definitely a book that needs to be read after the Alpha series and the first Alpha One Security so that you'll have perspective on all of the characters mentioned. But since all of the books are great, that's no hardship.
