Dark Celebration: Number 17 in series ('Dark' Carpathian) by Christine Feehan
Carpathians are an immortal race of beings with animal instincts and the ability to shape shift. Every Carpathian male is drawn to a life mate: a woman - Carpathian or human - able to provide the light to his darkness. Without her, the beast within slowly consumes the man until turning into a vampire is the only option.'Mikhail Dubrinsky, Prince of the Carpathians, fears he can't protect his people from the extinction of their species - a fate that has become the wicked prayer of his enemies, who plot to slaughter all Carpathian females. Mikhail's lifemate, Raven, and their daughter, Savannah, are both vulnerable to the encroaching evil, but all is not lost. In this desperate season, Carpathian's from around the world are gathering to join their strengths, their souls and their powers. But so too are their adversaries uniting - hunters, vampires, demons and betrayers - bringing untold dangers into the fold of the Carpathian people.

I consider Christine Feehan one of the best paranormal writers on the market. I look forward to the release of her books and this one was no exception.
This book is my least favorite of all of her books. I loved many aspects of the book, but as Christine Feehan says in the forward of the book, it is hard to write a book where there is no main hero and heroine.

This book as the title indicates is a reunion of most of the Carpathians she has mentioned in her previous books. That is a tough task and she does it well. The book is like a family reunion where you get to catch up on the latest news.
The Prince of the Carpathian people is the one central character of the book. He was created in her first published novel "Dark Prince." While pondering the problems facing the Carpathian people he goes from home to home where you get to see various Carpathians preparing for an old fashion Christmas celebration. Fans will enjoy seeing Demitri and Skylar previously mentioned in "Dark Guardian," meeting each other and starting to bond as Life Mates.
The life mates that will be featured in her Spring Novel are brought together just enough to peak your interest in what is to come.
In one touching scene the Carpathian woman who was raped in "Dark Challenge," and her lifemate tenderly get past the damage that incident had left behind.
In the final pages of the book, Shea the Carpathian mentioned in "Dark Desire," gives birth with her husband Jacques by her side and the Carpathian people surrounding her with support and love.
The book also contains recipes send in by Feehan Fans and a section on the chants the Carpathians do and the Carpathian language itself.
This book is a must for any collector or fan of the Carpathian series.

Dark Celebration was a great read. I thoroughly enjoyed the lighthearted dialog throughout a majority of this book. Yes there are still battles and puzzles to be worked out but this was a great read. Unlike most I can look past the kindle typos and enjoy the story.
The Santa Clause discussion scenes throughout this book had me laughing so hard I was crying.

While this book is mostly light hearted you do get a little more insight to Skylar and some of her scenes gave me the chills and put tears in my eyes. This book was definitely a roller coaster for emotions.
I however, very strongly disliked that again the Jaguar race is being so thrown into this series. I'm reading these for the first time and in publication order so I do not know for certain but have a strong feeling the books are going to start to go downhill for me rapidly if the Jaguars keep being shoved down out thoats. In my personal opinion, Mrs. Feehan should have wrote a separate series about the Jaguars and left them in their own world and not in the Carpathian world.
This book also felt like the story wasn't finished when the book was over. I felt as if it should have had an additional chapter or two. The ending sequence of this book felt very rushed.
