Star Struck
*Onto every diva’s backside, a little wood must fall. Lights, Camera, Book 2* Hollywood actress Heather Wainwright was looking forward to a long, relaxing break before starting her next shoot. Except her assistant volunteered her for L.A.’s annual 24 Hour Plays. Nervous about doing a good job for such a worthy charity, Heather falls back on “diva” mode, a defense mechanism that always carries her through. Until she encounters something that really gets on her nerves—a lowly carpenter whose Norse god eyes pierce right through her. Highly sought-after production designer Seth Rafferty has little patience for A-listers with superior attitudes, which is why his attraction to Heather is absurd. Yet, sensing vulnerability beneath her screen-queen act, he lets her assumptions play out. After the wrap party, Heather awakens with little memory of the night before—except that Seth gave her the best orgasm of her life, then disappeared. When he shows up on the set of her next movie, she winds up to give him a piece of her mind…and Seth shows her just how stinging hot “chemistry” can get. Warning: Contains an outwardly snobby actress with a good heart, a delicious carpenter with a power drill, some much-deserved spanking, and an appropriately consensual—if tipsy—orgasm, as well as sex at an inappropriate time of the month.

We met Heather Wainwright briefly in Take Two, as Micah’s co-star. Being a wildly successful Hollywood actress has not solved all of Heather’s troubles. Having come from a not so happy home and growing up poor in a trailer park with two addict parents have left some very lasting impressions on Heather. Heather has learned to keep her heart safe; you need to put up walls. Push people away, keep them at arm’s length, never allowing anyone too close. Most importantly, live up to your image and...

Having come from a not so happy home and growing up poor in a trailer park with two addict parents have left some very lasting impressions on Heather. Heather has learned to keep her heart safe; you need to put up walls. Push people away, keep them at arm’s length, never allowing anyone too close. Most importantly, live up to your image and what people believe you to be. On the inside Heather is just a woman, with the same insecurities, fears and the same self image issues any of us have. She is lonely, and longs for affection, a relationship, that special someone. She’s not to ever admitting to it though. Enter stage left, sexy, smart mouthed, stubborn and unshakable Seth Rafferty. A sexy, talented, alpha, production designer with his own baggage and insecurities.
When Heather and Seth meet, their chemistry, combustible and explosive. From the moment they lay eyes on each other it is, simply put lust at first sight. These two characters are so incredibly strong and stubborn that the banter and battle of wills is half of the fun in Star Struck. The other half comes from some amazingly sexy and steamy scenes, one of which may or may not include a 69. That’s right, I said 69! Impeccable writing, pacing, flow and storytelling round out a fabulous way to spend an afternoon. Star Struck, is not purely sexy times, Laurelin Paige always manages to round out her stories, incredibly sexy scenes with enough emotions to make the reader truly ache for the characters. Raw emotion and a perfect amount drama make you truly root for Heather and Seth. In fact I found myself rooting for Seth, from the moment I met him. I wanted him to show that snotty and superficial actress, that everyone deserves affection and unconditional love. Show her that image, is just that. Image and appearances only count for they are worth. Unconditional love is priceless.
I loved Star Stuck, I loved Seth, and I even ended up loving Heather in the end. I’m willing to bet that you’re going to love it too, so go ahead and get Star Struck, I did.

Heather was Micah’s co-star in book 1 when we met her- Star Struck is set a few months later and Heather is single, just starting work on a new project.

She has a serious reputation as a diva that appears to be very well deserved. She is also a stuck up snobby witch as she clearly demonstrates in her thoughts and actions time and again. As much as she recognizes that about herself and doesn’t like it, she can’t bring herself to change. She escaped a pretty awful home life at a young age and refuses to allow anyone or anything bring her back to the person she used to be in any small way.
Seth Rafferty is one hot and sexy carpenter working on a crew building sets- or so Heather thinks. She was having a great time talking to him and ogling him until she realizes his job would be beneath her in social status and she couldn’t risk being associated with him. She doesn’t take the time to find out who he really is, and after getting burned in the past by women who either want him for who he is or leave him for who he was, Seth doesn’t bother to correct her assumptions. Yet somehow they keep finding themselves drawn back to each other.
There is a fine line between love and hate, right? When they finally get together for the first time, hot doesn’t begin to cover it! Seth likes to dominate in the bedroom (or any location) and Heather freaks out when she realizes she is into it based on her upbringing and things that happened in the past. Neither can ignore the undeniable attraction between them, and Seth decides to try to win her over and change her pre-conceived notions without revealing his true identity. What’s that ticking sound you hear you ask? Oh that’s just the time bomb waiting to explode of course!
I adore Heather’s personal assistant and only true friend Lexie! She calls Heather on her BS at all times and helps her see how wrong she is about so many things. She recognizes how good Seth is for Heather and tries to help them both pull their heads out of their butts at times.
Overall this was an enjoyable read with plenty of heat and “what the heck are you thinking” moments, and I didn’t put it down once I started reading it. Thank you Ms. Paige for another great story!
