Amaryllis, book one in Jayne Castle's St. Helen's series was written in 2010. Given that I have a library full of Jayne's books, written under all her pen names, I am not sure how I missed Amaryllis. But I am glad I finally read it! It is every bit as fantastical as Harmony!

Amaryllis Lark and Lucas Trent are two of Jayne's most passionate characters ! Amaryllis is as prim and proper as Lucas is laid back. Their romance is as unlikely as lightening striking twice in the same spot! But somehow, Jayne Castle makes it work, as the chemistry is off the charts. Jayne molds her characters into believable and relatable people. Their romance elicits all sorts of tingles and goosebumps in all the right places for me.

What I truly love about Jayne's books is that no matter how red-hot, erotic and sexy the romance is, it never overwhelms the story Jayne is trying to tell. Jayne Castle is one of the best storytellers I have ever read. Amaryllis is full of adventure, twisted plot lines, and exciting mystery. Amazon suggested a six hour reading time, but I was unable to put it down even to eat or take bathroom breaks, as I was dying to know what happens next. I, therefore, finished the book in four hours. Then I promptly became upset, realizing I finished it so quickly that I had plenty of time to finish my housework for the day!

Lucky me! I discovered I owned the rest of the series, so I could immediately begin reading the rest of the series. I highly recommend you lose yourself in Jayne Castle's St. Helen's series!
